United States: why was the Capitol evacuated this Wednesday, April 20?

This Wednesday, April 20, the American police evacuated the Capitol citing an air threat. It was ultimately just a sporting event.

"Evacuate the United States Capitol". Here is the disturbing alert shared at 6:30 p.m. this Wednesday, April 20 by the American police. This press release mentioned a potential air threat. Only twenty minutes later, the alert was lifted. The report actually involved US Army paratroopers who were dropped from a plane to take part in a pre-game show at the baseball stadium , located less than 2 kilometers from the Capitol.

The mess angered  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi . "The fact that the US Aviation Authority apparently failed to notify Capitol Police of the planned National Stadium overflight is outrageous and inexcusable ," she said.

The police, who justified the evacuation by a "precautionary concern", promised "more information to come". This incident unfortunately echoed  the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 by supporters of Donald Trump. "A trauma"  for "elected officials, staff and institutional employees", recalled Nancy Pelosi.
