Chinese foreign minister pays first visit to India since 2020 fighting in Ladakh

China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, arrived in India this Friday for what is the first official visit of a senior official from the Asian giant to the country since the clashes recorded at a point on the common border in 2020, which tensed the bilateral relations.

Wang, who visited Afghanistan on Thursday to meet with several senior officials of the authorities established by the Taliban after seizing power in August 2021, has been received by his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, as confirmed by this last in his account on the social network Twitter.

The Chinese Foreign Minister has also met with the Indian National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval, a meeting in which the possible withdrawal of troops from the conflict zones in the Ladaj region was discussed to normalize the situation, according to what was collected the Indian television network NDTV.

According to this information, both have agreed that the continuation of the current situation is not in the interests of China and India and have advocated taking steps to restore peace in the area, after more than a dozen rounds of contacts between their respective military commissions.
